  The QLess feature was great and I encourage everyone to use it! I texted the number earlier while at home, and it then have me an estimate of the wait. I received regular status updates on the wait time, and so I was able to run errands until it was close to time. It was very efficient and the employees there were helpful once my number was called.

  First of all, parking is a nightmare. If you are lucky you might get a spot in the tiny parking lot and if you do you better have change for a parking meter. Typically I have to find street parking three or four blocks away. The last time I was at this DMV I waited an hour and a half and even though I had entered my phone number to get in line I got skipped. There was only one employee working out of the possible 5 or 6 help desks and I had to interrupt her to let her know I got skipped. She was nice enough to let me go after the person she was helping but that was another 10 - 15 minutes of waiting. When I finally got help I was informed that I was missing one unimportant form that was NOT listed on the DMV website so my day was basically wasted for nothing. I've been driving on expired temp tags for several weeks now and I am dreading going back to take care of it. I think they should have a desk employee whose sole job is just to confirm that people have necessary documents before they even get in line and waste their time. But that's wishful thinking considering they don't even have enough staff to man the desks that are already there. If you go you better make sure you have every document ever and have a full charge on your phone because you will be very bored and miserable. Good luck. Also, I upgraded this from 1 to 2 stars just because they phone number system is handy (when you don't get skipped.) UPDATE: Tried again today. Parked down the street by the police station. There was maybe six people sitting in the lobby and once again only two workers and I had a wait time of an hour and a half. I got called away by work so here's another week driving on expired temp plates. Downgrading to one star.

  HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!!! I was treated poorly by a worker and was told "I have a job to do" when I stepped out to use the restroom and came back and she was calling the person next as soon as I walked in. I was shoved to the back of the line and was disrespected. She did not care that I had things to do that evening nor that I waited for 40 minutes. Completely blown away by how they get away with treating people. She could have easily helped me out quickly when I was right there as she called the next number. Will not be returning for any reason.

  I am consistently impressed by the courtesy & helpfulness of the downtown DMV staff. They have turned a dreaded errand into a pleasant experience. I have been there a number of times in the past 8 years for myself & others in my family & really appreciate how efficient & professional the staff is. Amy has helped me several times, & she is terrific. The electronics makes waiting much better than back in the old days.
